Try Psyllium to cleanse your Colon today!

You might have come across the term Psyllium in colon cleanse products and wondered what it is. Psyllium husk forms the covering protecting the seeds in many plants. It serves as an excellent source of dietary fiber, which is much more than those contained in other whole grain sources like oat bran or wheat. Hence psyllium husk is included in many colon cleanse products.
It is also considered as the best fiber supplement. The reason is, when psyllium makes its way through the digestive tract, its shell is not absorbed, but it absorbs water content. So the stool becomes soft and the problem of constipation is thereby alleviated. Thus psyllium is increasingly found in laxatives too.
Psyllium also has other uses besides colon cleansing. The bad cholesterol level in the blood has been reduced when psyllium is used in combination with a low fat diet. It has also been shown to help much in weight loss as it helps to pass out more fat in the stool.
But there is a disadvantage in using psyllium. Some people develop a severe allergy to this ingredient. So adequate precaution has to be exercised when taking supplements that include this ingredient – you have to drink plenty of water while taking it. The same precaution applies to cereals and other such high fiber foods that include psyllium. There are chances that you will have an issue with intestinal obstruction, so if you have had any previous colon surgery, it is always better to consult your doctor before taking any form of products that contain psyllium.
To sum up, psyllium is:
• Excellent colon cleanse product
• Rich source of dietary fiber
• Good fiber supplement
• Good laxative
• Reducer of bad cholesterol level in blood
• Good helper in weight loss
